The congregation of Faith Lutheran, Chico, prayerfully studied Jesus’ parting words in each of the four Gospels to discover our MISSION of being called by the Gospel to:

Rooted in the life-giving presence of Jesus the Christ we delight in the VISION of:
More and more people, encountered by Christ, empowered for God’s purposes.

Our community life is anchored in worship, strengthened by educational and fellowship activities, and expressed through ministries of love within and beyond the congregation.

Pass on the faith

Worship is central in the life of Faith Lutheran Church.  We trust that God is present with us in baptism, in preaching, and in sharing the bread and wine of Holy Communion.  We are a church that practices liturgy, rooted in scripture, in our worship.  The music in our community ranges from Classical/traditional to contemporary.

We seek to be cross-generational with people of all ages, children, youth and adults, singles and families, homebound and active, enjoying shared community and are growing in Christian faith and service. 

We are in partnership with the Chico area inter-faith and ecumenical neighbors, enjoying fellowship and serving in our community. 

We are growing in our understanding of the rich diversity within creation including human sexuality, environmental issues, global justice, especially celebrating our unique relationship with the Lutheran Synod of Rwanda.  We desire to be an inclusive, grace-centered, praying community that serves our neighbors and keeps the living Word at the heart of all decisions.

Faith Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and part of the worldwide Lutheran family related to the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). 

Lutheran history goes back to the 16th century with a 500-year tradition of faithfulness to God’s word in scripture and a commitment to being a reforming and reconciling church – called out of sin's distortions and shaped into the likeness of Christ.
